History

LCCM's BSN Program was opened in 2002 offering a 2 + 2 curriculum: two years of ASHE Program and two years of Nursing Major to complete the Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree. The nursing school is housed in a newly erected building complete with modern learning facilities that will provide our nursing students a competitive edge in global nursing practice.

Mission Statement

LCCM BSN Program subscribes to a Catholic Nursing Education. It endeavors to provide the opportunities for men and women to become high-quality professional nurses that can function effectively in an ever-changing society both locally and abroad.

The School aims to teach its students the value of intellectual skills and to help them develop critical thinking abilities so that they can make choices based on knowledge and unbiased evaluations; to recognize personal growth, a heightened sense of responsibility, a concern for people; to educate the students to recognize and appreciate diverse cultural value system through studies in the liberal arts and sciences; to familiarize the students with resources of future learning, so that they can adapt to the increasing complexity of professional responsibility and to promote learning as a life-long commitment.

GOALS AND OBJECTIVES

Upon completion of the program the students will:

1. 1. Demonstrate knowledge of the interaction of art and science in the field of nursing.
2. 2. Make decisions and choices by drawing from the liberal arts and sciences.
3. 3. Use a variety of theoretical concepts from which choices maybe made during their professional practice.
4. 4. Use critical thinking in the application of the Nursing Process.
5. 5. Integrate information on the historical, political, socio-cultural, moral and spiritual values in professional nursing practice.
6. 6. Adapt to the increasing complexity of nursing responsibilities evolving from technological advances.
7. 7. Provide nursing care based on ethical and moral value systems.
8. 8. Collaborate with members of the health care team recognizing institutional lines of authority and communication.
9. 9. Demonstrate leadership skills in nursing practice.
10. 10. Demonstrate responsibility to the nursing profession through continued learning, research and participation to effect changes in the health care system.
11. 11. Understand the need for life-long learning in view of the increasing body of scientific and technical knowledge, which affects the nursing profession.

NURSING REVIEW CENTER

The Review Program is primarily designed to provide a comprehensive review of the five (5) major areas of study in the nursing curriculum. It focuses on enhancing the student's preparedness to successfully pass the Local Nursing Licensure Examination (NLE), CGFNS and NCLEX-RN examinations.

In 1974, the College library was transferred to the Sta. Monica College Building from the main building of the school. At present, the library is named after Atty. Violeta Calvo-Drilon, LCCM's outstanding alumna. It is situated at the 2 nd floor of the Kamalayan Building occupying a floor plan of 906 sq.m. to accommodate the growing collections of the library.
Review Topics:

The five major areas of study are as follows:

1. 1. Fundamentals of Nursing
2. 2. Maternal and Child Health Nursing
3. 3. Medical-Surgical Nursing
4. 4. Mental Health Nursing
5. 5. Community Health and Communicable Diseases Nursing

Regular Program- 216 hours (8 hours per day, 6 days per week)

"Boot Camp"- 96 hours (8 hours per day, 6 days per week)

Mission-Vision:

To assist the graduates in maximizing the probability of successfully passing the NLE, CGFNS, and NCLEX-RN examinations and in addition, to help assure that the graduate is a knowledgeable, safe and effective entry-level practitioner.

Objectives:

At the end of the review program, the graduates will be able to:

1. 1. Integrate nursing concepts and principles in the application of the nursing process to the care of clients along the health-illness continuum.
2. 2. Design nursing care plans in collaboration with other members of the health team, that address the promotive, preventive, curative, and rehabilitative health care needs of the individual, the family and the community.
3. 3. Provide safe and therapeutic environment to the clients throughout the life cycle.
4. 4. Demonstrate attitude, knowledge and skills necessary for professional nursing practice both locally and abroad.
5. 5. Apply critical thinking skills to all aspects of nursing practice.
6. 6. Assume responsibility and accountability for the nursing care of the clients received by implementing "Standards of Nursing Practice".
